ABOUT THE CAL 46
CRUISING ASSOCIATION
The primary purpose of the Cal 46 Cruising Association is the mutual exchange of information between boat owners on equipment, maintenance, performance and preservation of the value of the Cal 46’s.
The Association was formed in the mid 1970’s during the production of this remarkable and successful boat by Jensen Marine of Costa Mesa, California. Currently, there are some 60 plus owners who share in this Association.
This web site is maintained at <www.cal46.org>. Newsletters are published consisting of information regarding on upcoming meetings and speakers, notes from worldwide members, equipment and boats for sale, and a recap of this web site's discussions.
The Association coordinates meetings for its members and sponsors, which include the opportunity to view all visiting Cal’s present for the meeting. In addition, there is a summer cruise, generally in and around Southern California.
Membership is open to all owners of Cal 46’s. Dues are $25 annually.
The elected officials for 2003-2004 are:
- President - Joe Murray
- Vice-President - Frank Howard
- Secretary/Treasurer - Ree Gibbons
Our sponsor is Len Bose of Len Bose Yachts in Costa Mesa, and honorary membership is held by Bill Lapworth, the designer of the Cal 46. The Association was founded by the Ottestad’, the Sharps, the Gaynor’s and the Hirsch’s.
The Cal 2-46 shown on this page is ARIEL, owned by Alfred & Ruth Bloch.
